Brighton Marathon – Friday 13 to Sunday 15 April
The Brighton Marathon was founded by former international athlete Tim Hutchings and by former Brighton club athlete, Tom Naylor. The event is organised by the Grounded Events Company ltd. The first running of the race took place on 18th April 2010.
Since its inauguration, the Brighton Marathon has grown dramatically to become the Brighton Marathon Weekend.
The course bests for the men and women are well under 2hrs10min and 2:29, making it the second-fastest marathon in the UK. It is also the second-largest marathon in the UK and eighth-largest in Europe.
One of the UK’s favourite running events, Brighton Marathon gets bigger and better every year. The route takes in the heart of the city and the spectacular seafront, taking in everything this vibrant city has to offer. It’s a packed weekend with the event village opening up on Brighton beach on the Friday, and the full 26.2 mile race day event taking place on Sunday.
This weekend we at Beechwood B and B have young people running tomorrows marathon. Getting prepared with an early night in our sumptuous beds, and a good hearty breakfast. Porridge with honey and bananas are the breakfast of choice to build up the stamina required. From Beechwood B and B its a 30 minute drive to the seafront.
We would like to wish all people taking part all the very best.
