Penshurst Place and Gardens

Penshurst Place and gardens are set in the beautiful Kent countryside approx 35 mins drive from us at Beechwood B and B.
Penshurst Place

It is one of England’s oldest family-run estates, with the Baron’s Hall dating from 1341. It has been the property of King Henry VIII, was left to his son King Edward VI and granted to Sir William Sidney in 1552. The Sidney family have been in continuous occupation for more than 460 years since with it’s present owners being Viscount and Viscountess De L-isle.

Penshurst Place, because of it’s history and it’s perfectly-formed structure has been the setting of major film and television recordings, such as The Other Boleyn Girl and Wolf Hall. You may recognise scenes as you stroll around.

Enjoy a great day out for all ages, where you can revel in the historical content inside the house, explore the beautifully manicured gardens, let the children run free in the play areas or even tackle the summer Maize Maze. There is a Garden Restaurant to enjoy cooked meals and drinks or the Porcupine Pantry for lighter snacks.

We hope you will find pleasure in visiting the 14th century Manor House and its Gardens and it’s a place of significant interest that we highly recommend.
