The Ram Inn Firle

The Ram Inn has been at the heart of a vibrant farming community for over five hundred years. A wonderful village local, set in Firle, at the foot of the Downs and in the South Downs National Park. The rambling old building has three main bar areas, each with its own open fire lit every day between October and April. At the bar you will find artists, walkers, writers, farmers, farriers and vicars, and the garden is usually full of families and children of all ages. Now known for really good local food as well as locally produced cask ales.

Its a very busy pub so booking is essential.

Historic Lewes is approx 5/6 miles away from Beechwood. There is a good train service to London or Brighton.

Lewes is known for its antique shops and fantastic quirky cafes. Try Bills for brunch, lunch, or tea. It is always a talking point. You can also buy any the local produce on view at Bill’s.

If you are not shopping but wish to sample the history of Lewes then Lewes Castle and Anne of Cleves House are worth visiting.

Brighton, Eastbourne and Tunbridge Wells

These are approximately 30 minutes drive from Beechwood and have all of the larger brand stores in shopping malls as well as more individual shops.

Local Produce

Farm shops and markets are aplenty in East Sussex, many just a few miles away.

Farmers markets are usually on Saturdays in the market towns and here you can sample the local produce.
